Often referred to as hospital insurance, Medicare Part A is one of the pieces that make up “Original Medicare”.

Coupled with Part B, it makes up what we call “Original Medicare”. The earliest that coverage can begin is the 1st day of the month when you turn 65, whether you’re automatically enrolled or sign up. Your protection will start on the first day of the previous month if your special day falls on the first day of the month.

To not ensure Late Enrollment Penalties (LEP), you must follow essential timelines. We are here to help you avoid these penalties, so that you don’t pay them for the rest of your enrollment period or even life once you’re assessed.

What does Medicare Part A cover?

  • Inpatient hospital stays

  • Skilled nursing facility visits

  • Excluding long-term, intermediate or custodial care

  • Some home health care

  • Hospice care

If you worked 40 quarters or ten years and you paid for Part A through payroll taxes, you’ll most likely get a $0 premium for Part A.

We know there is a lot of information on Original Medicare but after taken a look at one part, we hope to have brought some clarity for you.
